# ScaleMax Web Chat

> Use ScaleMax Chat in the browser for workspace conversations, model access, usage visibility, and everyday AI work.

Web Chat is the hosted ScaleMax chat workspace for browser-based AI conversations. Use it when you want to ask questions, draft content, learn, research, or get coding help without configuring an SDK or local client.

## Open Web Chat

Go to [https://web.scalemax.pro](https://web.scalemax.pro/). If you are signed in, ScaleMax opens your workspace chat. If not, you will be sent to login and returned to Web Chat after authentication.

## Start a conversation

1. Open Web Chat.
2. Select or create a workspace.
3. Click `New chat` or open an existing conversation.
4. Choose an available model if model selection is shown.
5. Send your prompt.

## Usage and credits

Web Chat uses the same ScaleMax account, active key, model availability, and usage accounting as direct API calls. Conversation metadata may show model, tokens, and estimated cost where available.

## Limits

- Web Chat is a browser chat surface, not a local terminal agent.
- It cannot read your local files, run shell commands, or access local repositories unless that capability is explicitly added in the web app.
- Available models depend on the live model list and your active ScaleMax access.
- For full local filesystem or terminal tools, use a supported local client from the manual configuration guides.

## Troubleshooting

- If messages fail, try another available model or check your usage/credits.
- If a conversation does not load, return to the chat list and reopen it.
- If you need API access instead of browser chat, use the Chat Completions API.
